Why I Moved to Thailand

When I was studying for my Master’s Degree in Teaching, I often had to write papers on different countries — their school systems, policies, and cultural foundations. One of the countries I chose to focus on was Thailand.

As I dove into my research, I learned about the people, their religions, their weather, and even their landscapes. However, what stood out to me the most was their national identity as the “Land of Smiles.” If you’ve read my About Me page, you already know how much I value warmth, resilience, and starting anew — Thailand captured that spirit perfectly.

Something about that phrase touched me deeply. It painted a picture of warmth, kindness, and joy that I carried with me long after the assignment was complete.

In that moment, I knew Thailand was the place where I wanted to retire. So, in 2012, I made a vow to myself: one day, I would make Thailand my home — whether I had someone by my side or whether I did it on my own.

On July 5, 2025, I honored that vow. Today, I’m living my dream in the Land of Smiles, fulfilling a promise I made to myself more than a decade ago

Closing Reflection 🌺

Moving here wasn’t just about changing where I live—it was about honoring a promise to myself. Sometimes we make quiet vows that only our hearts hear, and years later we realize those vows are what carried us through. Thailand represents more than just a new chapter for me; it represents freedom, peace, and the courage to finally live life on my own terms.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
